It’s good to see your comment. Thanks Andrew! I am glad that you like the temple and have come to join everyone. You will soon become an official Buddhist when you finally take your ‘refuge’. That also depends on your karma, too. You have to be sincere about it. A lot of people want to take refuge, but they don’t get the chance right away until sometime later. Perhaps your time hasn’t come yet. That was why you couldn’t have it done and have to wait. But the time will come when your “spiritual self” is ready. Have faith! In the meantime, just keep coming in. You’ll learn more each time. Linh Son always welcomes you and everyone with its open heart, as a “second family”

Hi, I’m really interested in Buddhism and I go to school somewhere around this temple.
I want to come in and take a look around but I don’t really know what to expect, or what to do.
I want to become a buddhist but I have no idea how to really do it, is it somewhat similar to converting to Christianity?

Welcome to Linh Son’s website. In Buddhism, everyone is welcome to become a buddhist, once they have known enough about the religion to feel that it’s the path that they want to follow. Buddhism stresses kindness, compassion, harmony, and peace, and the belief is deep within one’s heart. You are welcome to join the weekly service every Sunday beginning at 11 A.M. There are a couple canadians who are buddhists as well, so you won’t be alone. If you would like, please come this sunday the 10th, this day is a special celebration of the Buddha’s birthday. So you will witness the first big celebration of Buddhism. You can read about the Buddha’s birthday and see photos on the Home page to know what to expect.

It’s one of the major Buddhist celebrations of the year. It’s the day we celebrate the enlightenment of Bodhisattva Avalokistesvara, whose tall statue you must’ve seen at the back of the temple.
